Epoxy Flooring for Warehouses
Triangle Warehouse
This past summer, SwedeBro installed over 100,000 square feet of epoxy flooring in a Twin Cities warehouse. Triangle, a major transportation and warehouse company, approached us to address their worn and damaged concrete floors. The uncoated concrete had deteriorated over time, becoming spalled, cracked, and uneven. This caused significant damage to one of their primary storage products—large bulk rolls of paper. When stored on their sides, the uneven floor damaged the paper edges, creating a costly issue for both Triangle and their customer.
What System Was Used?
For most warehouse epoxy flooring projects, we typically apply a thin 2-3 coat system. However, due to the extensive damage and unevenness of this floor, we first addressed the worst areas with patching and grinding. Then, two thick coats of self-leveling epoxy were applied to create a smooth, even surface. After that, we installed a decorative flake epoxy system topped with a clear urethane wear coat for added durability and aesthetics.

Why Epoxy Flooring in a Warehouse?
Epoxy flooring is a game-changer for warehouse environments, offering a range of benefits that address common challenges like cleanliness, durability, and lighting. Here’s why epoxy is an excellent choice:
Enhanced Cleanliness
Uncoated concrete floors are porous, making them difficult to clean and prone to dust generation. Epoxy flooring creates a smooth, non-porous surface that minimizes dust and is easy to maintain, ensuring a cleaner and healthier work environment.
Improved Lighting
The high-gloss, reflective finish of epoxy enhances the lighting in the warehouse, significantly brightening the space. Better lighting improves visibility, safety, and productivity.
Cost-Effective Concrete Repairs
Damaged concrete floors traditionally require cutting and patching, which can leave uneven surfaces and visible seams. Epoxy flooring seamlessly levels damaged areas, eliminating uneven edges while saving money compared to replacing concrete.
Durability and Longevity
Epoxy provides a tough, protective layer that extends the lifespan of the concrete floor. It resists wear, cracks, and stains, making it ideal for the high-traffic demands of warehouse operations.
Why SwedeBro?
We have been installing floor coatings since 1999, with all our key personnel being with the company for a decade or more! For this project, we were not the first contractors to look at the floor, nor were we the cheapest. We pride ourselves on providing the right solution for your problems, while considering the budget restraints that many customers have. In this case, the cheapest system was not the best option and after being given an opportunity to put a sample down of our own recommended solution, the customer quickly saw the long term value in what we were offering.
