The Academy of Holy Angels is a private, catholic school located in Richfield, MN. The school in one form or another has been around almost as long as Minnesota has been a state! Originally established in 1877, the school moved to its current location in 1931.
It's More than epoxy flooring
IT'S DURABILITY AND BEAUTY
The entranceway floor was covered in aging VCT tile, requiring extensive maintenance. Regular stripping and waxing were necessary throughout the year to preserve its cleanliness. With numerous areas showing signs of damage or chipping, it was evident that the floor needed a makeover, especially since it welcomed hundreds of students daily. Sherwin-Williams Resuflor DecoFlake was the ideal solution. Its mosaic blend of vinyl flakes complemented the existing designs flawlessly, offering both durability and aesthetic appeal.
In the summer of August 2021, SwedeBro began work on renovating the entrance floor. We began by removing the existing VCT, and then grinding and removing any remaining adhesive. This careful process ensures that the new epoxy flooring system will bond with the concrete. After preparing the floor, we began the installation process of the decorative mosaic system, which is a multi-day process. While most of our projects are typically finished within one week, this one, because of its complexity, required two weeks to complete.
There are numerous benefits to using a decorative mosaic epoxy system. Not only does it promise years of enduring performance, characterized by durability, chemical resistance, and slip prevention, but it also translates to substantial cost savings for the school. By eliminating the need for stripping and waxing of tiles, the school will save thousands of dollars annually in maintenance expenses. The initial investment in transitioning to epoxy flooring may seem significant, but amortizing this cost over the long-term along with the maintenance savings makes it a prudent and beneficial decision for the Academy of Holy Angels.
