There are many types of flooring in multi-family facilities including carpet, tile, or vinyl planks for apartment units, carpet is common for hallways, however epoxy is used frequently and best for underground garages, utility rooms, gyms, game rooms, and laundry areas.

For example, we often install:

• Heavy duty industrial grade or waterproof coatings in parking garages.
• Partial flake or other decorative coating in laundry rooms
• Metallic, full flake, or quartz in common areas like hallways & lobbies

How often does epoxy need to be cleaned in a Multi-family housing building?

For any coating in living areas daily to weekly sweeping/mopping is recommended. This is to keep the floor looking clean and beautiful. No different than the floors in your own home. Parking garage coatings do not require cleaning to perform as needed, which is to protect concrete from exposure to salt & water. 

How long does it take to epoxy a garage at a multi-family building, and what is the Downtime?

This is a one week process. For extremely large garages we can accomplish in phases, with each phase taking a week.

How long does an epoxy floor last in a multi-family setting?

For decorative coatings in living areas it could be 5,10 years..or longer. Regular cleaning keeps it looking great and performing for a very long time. The coating itself won’t peel or delaminate. Over time it might loose its “new” look but a refresh coat can be applied quickly and for much less than the original installation.
